Amanda Hale

Biographie

Amanda Hale began her writing career as an immigrant to Montréal in the 1970s. She has written for theatre, and has published novels, poetry, and short fiction collections. Her work has won wide acclaim, with awards such as the Prism International Prize for Creative Non-Fiction. Pomegranate marks her entry into the world of opera as librettist for this ground-breaking opera, seeded by her 2007 book of lesbian love poems. Pomegranate premiered with the Canadian Opera Company in June 2023, and will be produced by Vancouver Opera in Summer 2026. Hale is currently working on a memoir, Waking the Dead; and a 2nd libretto entitled In the Bardo.
