Biographie
Anna Chatterton est dramaturge, librettiste et interprète. Elle est dramaturge en résidence au Tarragon Theatre depuis 2011 et est dramaturge en résidence du CAO 2015-2016 au Nightwood Theatre. Anna a récemment été invitée à devenir écrivaine en résidence à l'École nationale de théâtre du Canada.
Anna recently performed her solo show Quiver at Theatre Aquarius as part of their TA2 Studio series. Anna writes and performs with the acclaimed feminist theatre collective Independent Aunties. The Aunties have created six shows together, co-written by Anna and Evalyn Parry and created with Karin Randoja. Their plays have been produced by Theatre Passe Muraille (Frances, Mathilda and Tea, The Mysterious Shorts), Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (Clean Irene and Dirty Maxine - Winner of Best New Play at SummerWorks Festival, 2002) and the Theatre Centre (Breakfast - Dora Nominated). Their upcoming play Gertrude and Alice will be co-produced with Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in March.
As a librettist her work has been commissioned and produced by Canadian Opera Company (Swoon), World Stage/Harbourfront Centre (Voice Box), The Banff Centre (Crush), Theatre Centre (Stitch), Tapestry Opera (See Saw), Urbanvessel (Sweat), Voice ++ Festival, and The Sound Symposium (Province of Impossible). She has been nominated for the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Best New Opera (Stitch) and thrice for the K.M. Hunter Award for Theatre.
Other productions include Rocking Horse Winner (Tapestry Opera - May 2016), Yellow Wallpaper (TA2 Series Theatre Aquarius - May 2016), The Man Who Married Himself (Toronto Masque Theatre - Fall 2016), and acting in Princess, written and directed by Sky Gilbert (Nov 2016, Hamilton). Anna has her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph and BFA in Theatre Performance from Concordia University.
