Lisa Codrington

Biographie

Lisa Codrington is an actor and writer. She holds a BFA in Acting from Toronto Metropolitan University and is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Prime Time TV Writing Program. Lisa’s plays have been performed in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean, and have been published by Playwrights Canada Press, McGraw-Hill Ryerson and Canadian Theatre Review. Selected playwriting credits include: The Prescription in 21 Black Futures (Obsidian/CBC); The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God (Shaw Festival); Up the Garden Path (Obsidian); The Aftermath (Femfest/Sarasvàti); The Colony (Opera to Go/Tapestry); and Cast Iron (Nightwood/Obsidian). Selected playwriting residencies include: Canadian Stage, Shaw Festival and the National Arts Centre. Lisa has been Nominated for the Toronto Arts Foundation Emerging Artist Award, the Governor General’s Award for Drama and a Canadian Screen Award. She is a recipient of the K.M. Hunter Theatre Award and the Carol Bolt Award for playwrights.
