SYNOPSIS
A farmer lovingly takes care of his brown cow, not knowing he and the cow have met before in past lives, once in the 18th century and again in the 20th.
MUSIC DESCRIPTION
Winding sixteenth-note melodies in the right hand of the piano gently move the opening of this scene along, while in more lyrical phrases overtop, a farmer affectionately greets his cow. Imitations of Debussy and swing music later appear in the piano, as the cow recalls its various past lifetimes.
