MUSIC DESCRIPTION
In this interrogation scene drawn from George Orwell’s novel 1984, percussive prepared piano provides a haunting backdrop for a tense exchange between baritone and tenor voices. Angular vocal lines and repeated rhythmic figures in the piano bring a sparse, unsettling energy to the scene as Winston grapples with the directives of an oppressive government.
