SYNOPSIS
Winston Smith helps Julia after she trips. This seemingly mundane interaction upends Smith’s world when he reads the note Julia slips into his hand. The words carry so much promise- and so much danger, in the context of an authoritarian government.
MUSIC DESCRIPTION
Inspired by George Orwell's novel 1984, this scene captures a furtive, fleeting moment of romance in defiance of an oppressive government. Delicate, upper-register rhythms in the piano anchor the music as it moves through Winston’s inner turmoil and Julia’s confession of love, in a brief lyrical duet.
