SYNOPSIS
A sister and brother go through the belongings of their recently departed mother and find an old snow globe from their youth. They both really want to keep it. A bitter fight ensues and the sister inadvertently blurts out a very painful secret.
MUSIC DESCRIPTION
Lilting piano phrases that linger on their highest notes open this scene between an adult brother and sister. When the appearance of a snow globe, signaled by delicate, cascading sextuplets in the piano, recalls powerful childhood memories, the pair's vocal lines turn briefly strained and argumentative—after which additional family secrets are revealed.
